Corresponding source for the ffmpeg binary shipped with RhinoChelae
===================================================================

Binary: ffmpeg.exe (Windows x86-64, statically linked)
Version: FFmpeg 9.0.1
Built by: Roitto Design Works, from the source named below
Built on: 2026-08-22
Licence: GNU General Public License, version 2 or later.
               Full text in FFMPEG-LICENSE.txt.

This is NOT a general-purpose ffmpeg. It is compiled for one job — read a PNG
sequence, write H.264 into MP4 — with every other decoder, encoder, muxer,
demuxer, protocol, filter and device switched off. It will refuse almost any
other command you give it. That is deliberate: it exists so that recording
produces a video on your machine without you installing anything, and a
general-purpose build costs 140 MB to do the same work.

RhinoChelae invokes it as a separate process over a command line and does not
link against it. The plug-in is not a derivative work of ffmpeg or of libx264.

The build
---------

The complete corresponding source of a binary includes the scripts used to
control its compilation. That script ships beside this file:

  FFMPEG-BUILD.sh

It pins both versions above, states the whole configure line, and explains
which switch serves which part of the one command the plug-in issues. The
configure line the binary was actually built with is also printed by:

  ffmpeg -version

Toolchain: MSYS2 MINGW64, gcc 16.2.0, nasm 3.02, on Windows 11 x86-64.

Source offer
------------

Roitto Design Works will provide the complete corresponding source for this
binary, on a physical medium or by download, to anyone who requests it, for a
period of three years from the date this version was distributed.

Why GPL and not LGPL
--------------------

The H.264 encoder is libx264, and libx264 is GPL. An LGPL build of ffmpeg has
no H.264 encoder at all, so it cannot produce the MP4 that is the product's
visible output. The alternative encoder (libopenh264) is lower quality and
brings its own patent arrangement; it has not been pursued.
