ZTools End User License Agreement (draft, v0.1)

Copyright (c) 2026 Ze Meng. All rights reserved.

1. Grant. You may install and use ZTools free of charge, for personal or commercial
work, on any number of your own computers.

2. Restrictions. You may not (a) reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble ZTools,
except where the law allows it despite this restriction; (b) copy, redistribute,
sell, rent or sublicense ZTools or any part of it; (c) remove copyright notices.

3. Ownership. ZTools is licensed, not sold. All rights not expressly granted are
reserved by the author. Third-party components (for example ClosedXML, DuckDB.NET,
DotSpatial.Projections, Svg, ExCSS, SixLabors.Fonts) remain under their own licenses.
OpenStreetMap is a trademark of the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
ZTools is not endorsed by or affiliated with the OpenStreetMap Foundation.

4. Network features. zSiteContext contacts third-party services to download data for the
area you choose: OpenTopography (terrain; you enter your own access token) and Overture
Maps data on Amazon S3 (buildings, roads, railways, water, green space). The first time
it runs, DuckDB, which reads that data, downloads two extensions from DuckDB's extension
server. The site area is picked on a map page that ZTools serves from your own computer and
opens in your web browser; the page loads a map library from unpkg.com and map tiles
from OpenFreeMap, and an address you type is sent through ZTools to Nominatim
(OpenStreetMap's search service). Those services are under their own terms, and the
page sends only the rectangle you draw back to ZTools. Nothing else is sent, and ZTools collects no usage data. An
OpenTopography token is stored on your own computer and is for your own use only. Those
services have their own terms and limits, which you must follow; data from OpenStreetMap
and Overture is licensed under the Open Database License and must keep its attribution
(ZTools writes it into the zSiteContext layer's user text).

5. Your models. ZTools writes tags, scores and settings into the objects of your own
Rhino files (user text and user dictionaries) and into Rhino's settings. Keep a
backup before running batch tools; most actions can be undone with Undo.

6. No warranty. ZTools is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. The author
is not liable for any damage or data loss arising from its use.

7. Changes. The author may change these terms or move ZTools to a paid license in a
future version. A version you already installed keeps the terms it came with.
